3/7/09 1 Commentthe mother/daughter tea
Yes it's that time of the year again when school does the mother/daughter tea. We are served by the dads, uncles, and grandfathers. But don't get excited because the moms plan the whole event, order the food, decorate, arrange seating, etc. and the men just show up. Typical. No, actually the men do help clean up and put away tables and chairs. This year is extra exciting because my dad is going to be a waiter. It's something he would NEVER normally do, but he claims he's been waiting on women all his life. Anyway I'm so glad it's daylight savings because after a while it gets depressing when it is dark early. And the kids can play outside longer. Have a great weekend everyone.

.....and a nag. Don't get crumbs on the floor, I just vacuumed. Eat over the table. Please sit right so you don't fall off of the chair. Get your pj's on. The crumbs just drive me insane because they are everywhere. You should see my van. You could survive 2 weeks in there on crumbs alone. My daughter said to me one time "I'm kind of embarassed to have my friends ride in the van because it's messy." I was like "Excuse me but who do you think made the mess?"

11/6/08 2 Commentswalking for als
ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis) aka Lou Gehrig's Disease is a disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord which in turn affects the muscles throughout the body. There is no cure or treatment and generally people are given 2 to 5 years to live.
Tori has a friend in 4th grade who's dad was diagnosed with this a few months ago. In addition he has many other medical problems. A group of us mothers and our kids will participate in a walk for ALS on Saturday at Citizens Bank Park. I am happy to be a part of this since a few years ago a co-worker of mine died quickly from this disease.

Of course "Air Conditioning " rates high up there with me. Although as a kid we never had it. " Hot Glue Guns" are awesome. Great for arts and crafts and to fix a lot of things. And right now my favorite is the "Electric Heated Blanket" It is AWESOME. If you don't have one and live in a cold climate, you have to get one. I kind of rolled my eyes at it when my hubby first bought it. But I love it. Turn it on a little before you get into bed and your bed is all toasty warm.
